Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz

In this playful examination of mystery,
Anthony Horowitz nests a 1950’s cozy murder mystery set in a sleepy English village, within a contemporary murder mystery set in the literary circles of London.

It begins with editor, Susan Ryeland, reading “Magpie Murders”, the latest manuscript from her best-selling author, Alan Conway.  His Agatha Christie-esque mystery introduces a foreign detective with odd habits and a host of suspects for the mounting murders.

When Conway is murdered and Susan discovers the last chapters of the manuscript missing, she becomes the detective to solve the mystery of the missing chapters and the mystery of “Magpie Murders”.
