The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman

Irene is a spy for the mysterious Library which acquires books from different realities.  In The Invisible Library, Irene and a rookie named Kai are dispatched to an alternative London to locate a highly coveted edition of Grimm’s Fairy Tales.  When they arrive they find the book has been stolen, people are dying (horribly) and chaos is rampant.

In spite of attempts on her life, a secretive cohort, a Sherlockian detective, automaton crocodiles and floods of silverfish, she must find the book.  The action is non-stop, the characters likeable, and the alternate world plausible.  Great fun.
